The Seed To Cup Journey

Did you know coffee is a fruit that comes from a tree? It’s so beautiful (and slightly insane) that our black coffee that we look forward to every morning is just a plant. The Seed to Cup Journey looks a little like this….

  • Tree and Blossoms

    • In the coffee journey, it all begins with the delicate blossoms adorning the coffee trees. Skilled hands meticulously harvest these fragrant flowers, marking the initiation of the coffee life cycle

  • Coffee Cherry

    • As the blossoms transform, coffee cherries emerge, resembling green cherries before turning into vibrant gems. Harvesters carefully select only the ripest cherries, ensuring optimal flavor development in the subsequent stages

  • Milling and Processing

    • Post-harvest, a meticulous process unfolds. The cherries undergo pulping, fermentation, and drying. These are crucial steps that lay the groundwork for the coffee’s final taste profile

  • Green Bean Stage

    • The dried cherries metamorphose into green coffee beans, setting the stage for the roasting process. This raw form preserves the innate qualities that will later be unlocked during roasting

  • Roasting

    • Enter the realm of the master roaster. Roasting is an art, a transformative process that coaxes out the unique flavors and aromas of each bean, turning them into aromatic wonders.

  • Grinding

    • Now in a ground state, the coffee beans yield to the grinder’s embrace. The grinding process releases a multitude of textures and aromas, each particle primed for the final act.

  • Brewing

    • The grand finale occurs as the ground coffee meets hot water. Through brewing, the flavors, aromas, and essence of the coffee bean harmonize, creating the enchanting elixir that fills your cup with every aromatic sip.

The next time you make your coffee at home I want you to try something. Feel the texture of your beans and smell what they smell like before and after you grind them. Take note of the aroma’s that fill the room when your coffee meets water. Lastly, take note of the flavors and smells you taste in your brewed coffee. What do you discover?
